The Tide Is Out

We had the honour of being with our dear Tricia as she passed peacefully in the early hours of August 7, 2019. As parents, seeing your child die is your worst nightmare but knowing her suffering has ended is consolation.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date and will be communicated to friends and family when finalized.

Tricia’s plan was for her blog to remain open to be read, shared and enjoyed.  This will be the last post to Tricia’s Tides.

Toasting and embracing life was her passion.  Please toast her today and whenever the occasion is right!

We met several years ago at Memorial Sloan-Kettering's celebration of life for transplant survivors. Tricia and I both spoke and I was immediately drawn to her spirit, smile, and sense of compassion. I have quietly been following her story ever since and am heartbroken for all of you. She was clearly such a special and very well-loved woman and I'm grateful I had the chance to meet her. Toasting her from afar.

So many wonderful high school memories of student council and band rehearsals! I was sad that our paths never crossed after high school, but I was so happy to reconnect around 10 years ago on Facebook and on this blog. Following Tricia’s journey has been a privilege and she was a bright star that will always light the way for everyone she touched over the years. Sending much love to her family and friends ❤️ Here’s to you, Tricia! ❤️

Marie, Lui and Brandon,
Carries and my thoughts are with you.
I had this post in my drafts from a few months ago as I was travelling and couldn't post.
Tricia you are still one of a kind, glasses raised.

Hi Tricia,
Its your moms cousin Tim, I've been following your Tricia's Tides for decades now, but I've never posted. Whenever I read your entries or the entries posted by others on the blog I'm overwhelmed, but not surprised by your strength and the amount of love flowing out of and into you.
We haven't seen each other for probably at least 30 years, but I know you had visited my parents in Lebret in that period. Thanks. I guess the gist of my post here is all about family. We, as part of the same family tree have been blessed to have a large and caring one. Spread out and not always keeping in touch at least in body, although I think we all keep in touch through our thoughts and memories. I was lucky in February while traveling through Quebec to stop where the original Paquin Family homestead was located. Although nothing is still there I just had this feeling of a stronger presence or force all around me.
In times passed your mom and I (although I was much younger....) used to get together it seemed on at least a monthly basis, with many of our cousins mostly at Lebret at your great-grandparents home, or at your grandparents house in Regina. Looking back at those photos they just ignite the memories of those times 50 years ago. Or I look at pictures of the Paquin reunions and see all those children who are now adults, and so many of the adults who are now gone. What makes me sad is that my children are the same generation as you are yet they haven't met you, and have so many other relations they haven't met or even communicated with. I hope to see you in Calgary in the not too distant future. I think it's time we start that communication again and plan another reunion. A celebration of family.
Family is a powerful force and after all is said and done its where we came from, where we are, where we are going, and where we'll all end up at he end, back with our families. Sometimes loosening, but never breaking that bond.
Hugs, Tim

I knew Tricia from PwC - I never directly worked with her but always landed up chatting to her at a training or just randomly in the office - that's how kind and friendly she was. I was always amazed and inspired by her positivity and energy. She was blessed to have amazing family and now it is time for her to rest - till we meet again in the next life...

From the first time that I met Tricia when she spoke about how clinical trials gave her more moments, she has inspired and motivated both me and my colleagues at the Foundation. Her journey was certainly not without its ups and downs but the one constant was always Tricia's determination to live life to the fullest, an inspiration to the end. My thoughts are with you all and I hope to see you at Tricia's Celebration of Life. Theresa

I am so sorry to hear about Tricia. I went to high school with Tricia and traveled with her thru many band trips, singing our parts together. She was a leader, an artist and a visionary person. I met Tricia through her physiotherapist who referred her to me for Pilates. I loved teaching her! She was always so positive and tried her very best to do her exercises and her homework. She never gave up. She was a warrior. She made me laugh and she made she cry. She will be missed by so many people. My heart goes out to those closest to her. I will never forget her.
