Rolling on the Foothills

A quick update - my chemo went well Wednesday and blood counts continue to be normal. My CT scan of my chest did not show any new development, but continues to look like (as the doctors say) someone took crowbar to them. They are not concerned about this image as long as my pulminary functions tests continue to improve. I have one next week so we'll see what I can do with those lungs then! All in all, quite positive day.

Another great day was yesterday. Tasha had to wait until then to get her full pathology results, which indicated that there was still cancerous tissue removed in the surgery but that the margins looked clear and she does not have to do radiation. While she continues Herceptin transfusions and takes other treatment medications for the next few years, she is at least coming out of the rockiest part of the treatment plan and we are now both "rolling on the foothills" of our roller coaster trip. Time to celebrate!

Hi, Tricia!

So it was brought to my attention today that my favourite reality show host, Phil Keoghan from the Amazing Race, is starting a new show in Canada this year. It'll be called No Opportunity Wasted, and Phil's List for Life Phil-osophy made me think of you. From what I've seen, it looks like in each episode, Phil will take people out of their everyday lives to take on their greatest fears or things they've always wanted to do, but can come up with a million excuses not to.

Anyway, to be eligible to apply, you need to be Canadian, have a valid passport, and be willing to take on something from your life list...and I immediately thought of you. Of course, being on a reality show may not be on your List for Life, but still...could be fun if you're up for being on TV! Check out the link:

Sounds like it'll be a good show to watch.

Take care of yourself, and see you soon!

Hello from St. Andrews, Tricia
This is terrific news from you regarding your blood counts and the gradual improvement of your pulminary functions. Like you, we will focus on your lungs in the coming week - as you do the hard work, we'll support you with our love and prayers.

We are also grateful for the update on Tasha. With radiation treatments not required, she should be able to make steady progress towards good health.

I like the image of the two of you on the foothills run of life's roller coaster ride. Dave and I will raise our glasses in a toast to life as each of you celebrates being in such a good space today. May this be a long and easy stretch!

Living on the shores of the North Sea, everyday we watch the ebb and flow of the tide and think of you. For us, the title of your blog has forever connected you to the sea and its movement. In it we see your strength, determination and resiliency.
Much love, Louise and David
